Volunteering at the Oregon Food Bank with Kol Shalom

When:
The last working Saturday of each month, from 9 to 11 a.m. See the Kol Shalom Calendar for specific dates (The Food Bank is closed some holiday weekends).

What:
Help sort and pack food or process labels for food while visiting with new or old acquaintances.

Who:
Kol Shalom members join other local groups in the volunteer effort that saves the Food Bank millions every year. Food is then distributed to food pantries throughout the state. Increasing costs of fuel and food are putting more and more families at risk for food insecurity. Most people getting food baskets are the working poor.

Where:
The Food Bank is on 7900 NE 33rd. See www.oregonfoodbank.org for directions or call Myra H. at 503-2445-9223.

How:
Wear comfortable closed-toe shoes. You may sit during some food bank activities to make the work less strenuous.
